Heart Warmer
3D weaving textile developed at Textile museum, Tilburg, The Netherlands

The “Heart warmer” intends to share sensations and emotions through our sense of touch. Japanese have a common, shared memory of rice. We consider balls of steamed rice as a condensed form of a mother’s love for her children. By giving the shape and texture of a rice ball to an object, it becomes the representation of the bond between people. The texture of a rice ball is translated into a piece of fabric made with three-dimensional weaving technique.

Not only does the soft, airy texture of the fabric bring about mental warmth, it also functions to physically retain warmth within the weaves.
